Details of the inaugural meeting of the new society are set out below.
Marina Phoenix Golf Society
Following the endorsement of our proposal at the recent SGM, a committee has been formed to run Marina Phoenix Golf Society.
Chairman/Captain - Jim Budd
Secretary - Rosalie Fardon
Treasurer - Margaret Budd
Handicap Secretary - Margaret Budd
Away Day Organiser - Tony King
Press Reports - Jim Budd
Social Secretary - Linda King
Events Calendar - Tony King
Thursday Comps Organiser - Jim Budd
An amount of €486.14 was signed for, as received, by Rosalie Fardon and Tony King. A total of 255 new golf balls were also received.
The committee have agreed to try and maintain the cash balance, except for exceptional payments such as spend on staff Xmas presents at Marina, etc. We will attempt to return all entry money received on a Monday, in the form of prizes, including the current stock of golf balls.
Any expenditure from club funds will, in future, require three signatures from committee members, thus avoiding the situation where an individual can authorise spending of club funds on a whim.
In accordance with the desire to continue the club in a similar vein to previously, as far as Club Competitions are concerned Trophies will be played for this year, as before, as long as the entries merit a true competition. Should this not be the case the committee will take a view at the time.
In the new format as a society Marina Phoenix will accept visitors, who are not members of Marina GC, for Monday Competitions on proof of handicap, payment of € 5 entry fee and green fee payment to Marina GC. Visitors will also be permitted to join Marina Phoenix as full members but first will be required to play three times as a visitor in the year of application for membership. Where no proof of handicap can be provided the three card rule applies.
Thursday Team competitions will retain the same format as previously.
In line with the successful proposal at the SGM the committee will not employ the previous constitution but will replace it with a new document. This is an exercise for the next committee meeting, giving the committee members sufficient time to consider their input. As soon as this is produced it will be published and any changes can be proposed at the next AGM.
The committee consider the SGM of 7th January 2013 a replacement for the deferred AGM. If however sufficient members wish to see a further meeting, the committee will consider it.
Any replies should be sent in writing to Rosalie Fardon or Jim Budd
